Plane catches fire at Cairo airport
July 29th, 2011 - 7:48 pm ICT by IANSCairo, July 29 (IANS) The cockpit of a passenger plane caught fire Friday at the Cairo airport, state media reported.
As passengers boarded the flight bound for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia at 9.15 a.m. (0715 GMT), an electrical short circuiting occurred in the cockpit, the official MENA news agency said.
Civil defence forces at the airport doused the fire, while the passengers and their luggage were safely evacuated from the plane.
