Melbourne, Feb 17 (ANI): A pizza delivery man has admitted that he had a 9-month sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in Melbourne’s southern suburbs.

The 31-year-old delivery driver met the girl after he became friendly with her mother when he delivered a pizza to their home in Rye, reports the Age.

The man began having sex with the girl in January 2009 and later during the relationship began dating a 40-year-old woman, the County Court heard this morning.

Prosecutor Ray Gibson told the court that when the offending started the man had just broken up with his partner of several years who had an autistic son.

The man, who was aged between 29 and 30 at the time of the offences, pleaded guilty to two counts of committing an indecent act with a child under 16 and six counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16.

Gibson said the man would be eligible for registration on the sex offenders’ register for life.

However, defence counsel Irene Bolger said the man had had a long-standing cannabis problem and alcohol problem.

She said he had many difficulties in his early life and his first relationship was with a prostitute who worked at a brothel his mother took him to at age 19. She said the man’s mother had also been a prostitute.

Bolger said her client had not forced the relationship with the girl, and she was a willing participant.

Bolger said the because of her client’s drug and alcohol issues a sentence of an intensive corrections order would be appropriate but Gibson disagreed saying a sentence of between five and seven years jail with a minimum of three to five years would be more appropriate.

The man will be sentenced at a later date. (ANI)
