The accident occurred at about 2 p.m. near an airport in Leicestershire county in central England, about two hours drive from London, Xinhua reported.

The pilot of one of the aircraft died at the scene of the incident, while two men travelling in the other plane received minor injuries, said police spokesman.
“Inquiries are in their early stages, but from initial reports it is believed that the aircraft collided in the air,” the spokesman added.
Gartree Road, which was in the vicinity of the spot where the planes landed, has been closed for emergency services, said a BBC report.
