Port Elizabeth, April 21 (IANS) Bangalore Royal Challengers captain Kevin Pietersen
was let off with a warning after being reported for showing dissent during his team’s match against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here Tuesday.
Pitersen was reported by umpire Simon Taufel for showing dissent against his decision, when he was given out leg before off Muttiah Muralitharan.
“Match referee G.R. Vishwanath let off the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Kevin Pietersen, with a severe warning post an on-field incident at Tuesday’s evening’s game in Port Elizabeth,” an IPL statement said.
“As per the DLF Indian Premier League’s Code of Conduct, it is a level 1 offense. The hearing was conducted by match referee G. R. Vishwanath.”
Commenting on the incident, IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi said: “We have a zero tolerance policy on player indiscipline and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the game is played in the true Spirit of Cricket.”
