Pet lizard ‘plucks’ game ants off Android screen
December 18th, 2011 - 7:22 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Dec 18 (IANS) A pet bearded lizard tried to pluck and eat as many as 16 ants off an Android touchscreen on his 24 year-old owner’s phone, before giving up in sheer disgust.
The unnamed owner captured the lizard’s images playing the 10-million-selling Ant Smasher game with his tongue. Touchscreens will work with any moist surface, so a lizard’s tongue will work just as well as a human finger.
The 57-second-clip shows the lizard staring hungrily at the screen as ants stream past, then it shoots out its tongue to catch them.
In the wild, bearded lizards eat a variety of bugs, from ants to worms and larvae. Adults can grow up to 24 inches from tail tip to head in length.
