Penn StationDec.24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The suspended train service at Penn Station in New York has finally resumed. According to the latest updates, the train movements came to a halt a few hours ago owing to an unexpected electricity outage. New Jersey was reeling under an electricity crisis and now it has been resolved. Amtrak spokespersons confirmed the restoration of the train services. When the electrical problem hit New Jersey on Wednesday, the rail service at Penn Station was severely affected. The movement of all outgoing and incoming trains came to a halt and passengers were stranded at the station. This created major trouble for thousands of passengers. They were already suffering from inclement weather for the last few days.

It took the staff almost three hours to put the things at Penn station back to normal. When the news of electricity outage was reported at 8.45 a.m., the technical crew started repairing on an urgent basis. However, the exact cause of the power outage still remains to be traced. The holiday travelers were the worst affected lot. The outcome of the power outage affected train movements up to Washington and Boston. Though the service has resumed, it will take some more time to return to regular departure and arrival schedule of trains.

The passengers stranded in trains that stopped within tunnels were in distress and these trains had to be rescued with special engines. However, the trains running in Long Island Rail Road routes were not affected. Amtrak is yet to make any official statement about the power outage mishap.
