Peaches Geldof, Max Drummey splitFebruary 8th, 2009 - 7:29 pm ICT by IANS
London, Feb 8 (IANS) Peaches Geldof, daughter of singer and political activist Bob Geldof, and her husband Max Drummey are parting ways after just six months of marriage. The couple’s close friends claim that the marriage was a sham from the start.
Thesun.co.uk reports that Peaches, 19, stunned family and friends by marrying little-known rocker Drummey, 24, in Las Vegas in August. The couple has released a statement saying they are ending their marriage after “much soul-searching”. However, they stressed that the parting was “amicable” and they would remain friends.
The statement said: “After much soul-searching, we have made the mutual decision to end our marriage and have agreed to go our separate ways. Our parting is amicable and both of us still respect and care about each other immensely.
“There were no other people involved in this decision and we both look forward to a future as good friends.”
After the divorce, Peaches Geldof will continue to divide her time between New York and London.”
But a close friend of the couple revealed that the marriage was a sham from the start. Drummey had begged Peaches to try and save their marriage and pals said he remained “besotted”.
A friend said that the couple has never lived together in New York, where Peaches shares a flat with two friends.
Drummey had repeatedly asked the blonde to house hunt with him, but he was firmly rebuked by his wife. She instead was said to have thrown a series of “tantrums” whenever Drummey raised the issue, and told him she wasn’t ready to settle down.
