Pathology report delays Indian toddler Gurshan’s death case in Australia
June 29th, 2010 - 1:08 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Jun 29 (ANI): Three-year-old Indian kid Gurshan Singh Channa’s death case has been adjourned pending receipt of a pathology report.
Gurshan was found dead near Australia’s Melbourne airport on March 4. A council worker found Gurshan’s body in the grass by the side of a road in March, about 20 kilometres from his family’s home in Lalor, The Age reports.
Gursewak Dhillon, 23, responsible for the death of the Indian toddler, appeared briefly via videolink in the Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with manslaughter by criminal negligence.
The Australian Police allege Dhillon, who shared the home with Gurshan’s parents, placed the boy unconscious but alive in the boot of his car, drove him for at least three hours then dumped him at Oaklands Junction without checking to see if he was alive or dead.
The court heard today that more time was needed to prepare the case, as a statement from a pathologist was still outstanding.
Dhillon, an Indian national and part-time taxi driver, was remanded to custody to face the same court on August 3 for a further committal mention hearing. (ANI)
