Pakistani plane diverted as man suffers stroke

Islamabad, June 12 (IANS) A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi to Chicago was diverted to Istanbul after a passenger suffered a heart attack, a media report said Sunday.

PIA flight PK-795 was over Turkish airspace Saturday when a crew member informed the captain that a passenger named Obaidullah was not feeling well.

A doctor on board examined the passenger and said immediate medical attention was required as the passenger had suffered a heart attack.

The captain immediately contacted the PIA operation control for directions.

He was asked by higher authorities to divert the aircraft to the nearest airport — Istanbul, the Daily Times reported.

PIA staff at Istanbul later took the passenger to a hospital. His condition was not specified.
