Pakistani arrested by UK police for sham marriage to Lithuanian woman
November 30th, 2010 - 5:34 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov.30 (ANI): A 40-year-old Pakistani groom to be and his 45-year-old bride to be were arrested by UK border police on suspicion of conspiracy to breach immigration law.
According to the Daily Mail, enforcement officers halted the sham wedding that was halted at the County Hall in Boston, Lincolnshire last Friday.
The Pakistani groom was later detained under immigration powers by the UK Border Agency for overstaying his visa.
Both were given bail for criminal matters while investigations continue. (ANI)
