Nov 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new father in Pennsylvania is facing drug charges after lighting a marijuana joint at a hospital in the western part of the state, instead of the traditional cigar, in celebration of his child’s birth.

The man, which police have refused to identify, was caught smoking the joint at a designated smoking area at the Uniontown Hospital on Tuesday morning. He is now facing charges of ‘possession of marijuana’, according to the cops.

A nurse was apparently smoking a cigarette on her break in the same area, and smelled the scent of the weed. She decided to call a hospital security guard and report the new father. The guard in turn called police, at about 3:20 in the morning, according to Uniontown Police Sgt Jonathan Grabiak.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review goes on to say that upon being confronted, the man stated, “I’m having a baby and wanted to get a buzz” before pulling a sack of weed from his shoe. He was released to a family member and forced to leave the hospital.
