Oz police seek information following identifying murdered Indian as a fruit contractor
February 27th, 2010 - 12:53 pm ICT by ANISydney, Feb. 27 (ANI): An Indian man, who was murdered near the New South Wales/Victorian border region, was a fruit picking contractor, and he went missing from Mildura on September 22, the New South Wales Police has revealed.
Pardeep Kumar, 33, was last seen at Mildura Library on the afternoon of September 22, and his body was found on October 6 at Monak, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Kumar was positively identified through DNA earlier this month.
According to the police, DNA retrieval and identification was a very difficult process in Kumar’s case due to the amount of time the body was exposed to elements.
Kumar’s family will be travelling to Australia in the coming days to arrange collection and return of his body to Punjab.
Investigators believe there are a number of people in the community who have knowledge about the murder of Kumar.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. (ANI)
