Oz PM Gillard to visit Japan, S. Korea, China and UK

Canberra (Australia), Apr. 13 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard will visit Japan, South Korea and China before reaching London to attend the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Katherine Middleton.
According to the Daily Telegraph, this will Gillard’s first bilateral visit as prime minister to these three countries.
Gillard is expected to use the trip to promote Australia’s strategic and economic interests.
Gillard will be in Japan from April 20 to 23 to reaffirm Australia’s support for the country in the wake of last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami.
She will meet with both the Emperor and Prime Minister.
She will be in South Korea April 23 to 25 where she will lead the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong, one of Australia’s key engagements during the Korean War.
She will also attend an ANZAC Day dawn service and meet with President Lee Myung-Bak and Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik.
Gillard will be in Beijing from April 25 to 28. She will meet President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao to discuss a range of bilateral issues.
She will then head to London for the royal wedding. (ANI)
