Melbourne, Oct 8 (ANI): A ruthless 56-year-old Australian child sex offender has been sentenced to at least 26 years in jail for his heinous crimes against children as young as 14 months.

David Shane Whitby, guilty of 120 offences, including rape, against eight children over a 10-year-period in suburban Sydney, went to the extent of shamelessly filming and photographing his acts committed against boys and girls.

Judge Peter Berman viewed the footage during a trial, which was heard without a jury.

“I’ve come across horrific aspects of human behaviour (and) the offences I will now detail are as disturbing as anything I’ve previously encountered. I’ve never seen one human being treat another in such a vile, disgusting manner as I saw in that recording,” News.com.au quoted judge as saying.

The majority of Whitby’s offences for which he was committed were against a boy aged eight to 13, but the brutality crudely overlapped when 14 months-old toddler became the victim.

Video evidence showed that the girl becoming distressed at the sight of Whitby, who ripped off her nappy, performed sex acts on the child and finally ejaculated on her body.

“It was impossible to watch what the offender did without feeling emotional. There are people like Mr Whitby in the world and it is necessary to describe the evil that people do because as Shakespeare reminds us ‘that evil lives after them’,” Judge Berman concluded. (ANI)
