Over 364,000 affected in Sri Lanka floods
January 1st, 2011 - 9:13 pm ICT by IANSColombo, Jan 1 (IANS) At least two people have died and more than 364,000 people were affected by flash floods in several parts of Sri Lanka, Xinhua reported Saturday. The eastern Batticaloa district was the worst affected with over 330,000 people marooned, the disaster management centre said.
A total of 1,400 houses were destroyed and 3,500 more damaged, it said. Over 16,000 affected people are housed in 63 relief camps.
