Over 1,000 Myanmar officials trained in South Korea
December 7th, 2011 - 10:23 pm ICT by IANSYangon, Dec 7 (IANS) A total of 1,100 Myanmar government staff have undergone training in South Korea since 1991 as part of a scholarship programme.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has recommended 132 more for training in South Korea this year, Xinhua reported Wednesday.
The training programme is part of an agreement signed by the two sides.
Since 1998, the South Korean government had sent 115 volunteers to serve in Myanmar. They worked in sectors like agriculture, sports and technology.
Sixteen South Korean volunteers are currently serving at six Myanmar ministries, including telecom, agriculture and industry.
