Osama plotted attack on 10th anniversary of 9/11
July 15th, 2011 - 6:09 pm ICT by IANSLondon, July 15 (IANS) Osama bin Laden was plotting an attack on the US this year on the 10th anniversary of the Sep 11, 2001, deadly attacks, a media report said.
The Al Qaeda founder was planning the attacks with his operations chief Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, The Sun reported.
It was, however, not clear whether any targets were chosen by the terrorists.
US officials said the plot had not gone beyond the early planning stage.
Top secret messages between the two terrorists were found by US Navy SEALs when they raided a compound in Pakistan’s Abbottabad city where bin Laden was in hiding.
The 9/11 mastermind was killed in the raid on his hideout in Pakistan May 2.
