osama-bin-ladenApr 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Facebook account bearing the name of extremist terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden has been pulled of the web on Friday. It attracted 1000 fans since its inception as it was reported. It was set up on March 25th. The page named Osama Bin laden as the Prince of Mujahideen. The location was written in the account as mountains of the world. The militant leader who is recognized as a potent threat to the USA and other developed nations is said to be living an elusive life in the hilly terrains of Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, it is still not clear if the page was actually made by the close associates of the militant leader or someone else playing a prank. Andrew Noyes, a spokesman for Facebook said that the possibility of the account being a hoax cannot be ruled out as people often put up fake accounts pretending to be popular actors and leaders to mislead others and have fun.

Facebook however has not taken any risk and closed the account. Facebook management did not reveal whether there would be any inquiry in the account further. The popularity of Osama Bin Laden has reached high after the infamous 9/11 attacks. Omar bin Laden, his son said a few months back that in spite of the severe US crackdown the elusive militant leaders enjoys support from people in Middle East.

The terrorist groups are reportedly trying to use the reach of the social networking sites in recent times. They are also using web and TV to send their messages to the mass and the targets.
