Osama bin Laden biggest terrorist of our time: Indian Muslim leader

Johannesburg, Jul 13 (IANS) Osama bin Laden was the biggest terrorist of our time because the methods he employed were not consistent with the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, an Indian Muslim religious leader told a gathering here Sunday.

“(Bin Laden) is hiding away rather than confronting the enemies of Islam, as had been the case with the Prophet Mohammed and his followers,” Hazrat Syed Muhammad Jilani Ashraf of the Kichochar-based Spiritual Foundation said at the launch of the new African headquarters of the Foundation.

Jilani was recounting an experience with a group of Muslim students in an unnamed European country, wearing bin Laden t-shirts as they chanted slogans comparing the Al Qaeda leader believed to be in hiding in Afghanistan with leaders of early Islam.

“I asked them whether they had studied the life the people they were mentioning, such as Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet, who left a safe enclave to confront Yazid, an opponent of Islam, and sacrificed his life in the process.

“I asked them if they understood the true meaning of jihaad, which is certainly compulsory on every Muslim, but not in the form that it is being waged by some purporting to represent Islam today.

“Jihaad has always been conditional, such as when the Prophet ordered his troops who went to war, that they should not interfere in the way of life in other countries, including prohibiting the destruction of churches and other religious and historic buildings.

Jilani said the Prophet had espoused jihaad as a way of removing bad elements in a society for the good of the entire community, much in the way that a surgeon would lift a scalpel to a patient: “The doctor is not the enemy of the patient, but is removing something that is causing harm to the patient so that he may live a better life.”

“If (the Prophet) was here today he would never have given an order such as the bombing of the twin towers in the US and other acts which kill innocent people.”

Jilani said the aim of jihaad in Islam was to win over the hearts of all people irrespective of race, creed or colour through peaceful means to instil in them the message of peace that was at the core of Islamic belief.

“This is the spark that the Spiritual Foundation has lit now here as well and God willing, it is something that can engulf the whole world with peace,” Jilani concluded as he explained that the new office would serve the needs of all in distress, irrespective of religious affiliation.

The nose is closing in on Usama Bin Laden’s supposed hideout on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. We should be prepared in the event, when all the dust settles, Usama Bin Laden is no where to be found.

My personal belief is that he is not in the region, and has not been for some time, but is probably in the area of the Arabian Peninsula. The link to this comment contains the explanation for my position.

i think the world is divided in to 2 terrorist groups, in one side the fundamentalist, and the other side is US army only diffrence is armed forces of USA is having license of mass killings of innocents and specially in islamic coutries like IRAQ,AFGHANISTAN, and by giving full support to israeli army they are also killing to PALESTINIANS..if we compare the killings of civilians done by US army with terrorist attacks, US army placed First..this is an open secret in america that 9/11 was controlled demolishment programme which is inside job, though osama-bin-laden not yet confirm the responsbility of the attack we cannot belive simply the statements issued by US. hence i concluded my opinion that the most harmful terrorist organisation is USA with the license of mass killing, and though osama doesnt have the license thats why he called as TERRORIST and George Bush called as PRESIDENT of USA the peace maker???now its up to you how you take my comment..

NOTE: i am not trying to save osama here but instead i am trying to expose the other side of the coin which usually we dont think…

    Omair,

I am not going to attempt to dispute grave injustices done in the Middle East and elsewhere in the name of the “War on Terrorism”, but would like to present three points the Islamic world, specifically that the fundamentalists in the Sunni and Shia communities need to get clearly before they can effectively deal with the United States and the West, or protect themselves.

    1)

The Al Qaeda organization, and their agents coordinated by Muhhamed Atta, were solely responsible for the attack on the world trade center in 2001.

    2) The doctrines of organizations like Al Qaeda, and their extremist Shia counterparts, the concept of the suicide/martyr, interpretations of Jihad, are not Islam, they never were Islam, and are in actuality, the beliefs of Infidels and Heretics. Their cult beliefs are a disease that is destroying Islam from within. It is a grave moral and religious sickness that is NOT a consequence of injustices done to the Arab people, in spite of the fact that these injustices make it easier for heretics to infect others with their disease.

These are not heroic, disciplined Mujaheddin being led to battle by Saladin, they are depraved little beasts.

    3) The concept of temporary truce, or “Hudna” as it exists in Islamic culture, is not only unacceptable to those you come in conflict with, it is utterly offensive. It enrages people!

When Arab or Islamic decision makers propose “Hudna”, it makes Israeli military officers want to send in more troops, it makes them want to set up more road blocks, it makes American generals want to order more air strikes, and I would guess it makes their Indian counterparts want to lead a charge in to the mountains of Pakistan.

No one is interested in temporary peace without a firm commitment to a lasting settlement!

As a note - The recent expansion of settlements on the West Bank by Israel is a clear violation of international Law. It is not the Palestinian’s fault that the Israelis are violating international law, and I don’t claim that it is.

On the other hand, the reason moderates in Israel who would stop this have such little influence - The reason Israeli decision makers no longer truly listen to the international community, or even the United States President-

They have been bitterly hardened by decades of “Hudna”, and simply don’t care anymore.

i appreciate your research on the subject, but one thing i cannot understand that why people dont understand that all the terror attacks done by Al-Qaida is not controlled by osama bin laden, there is a small sect of al qaida which is controlled by Osama, but not all it is some black sheeps in the organisation who are illitrate and cannot understand the religion in depth, it is those people who made there own sects to take the name of al qaida further in international market, so we cannot blame to one person for this.now come to the topic about 9/11 was inside job or not that is still not cleared and you cannot neglect this also that there is no involvement of USA in that attack, instead the evidence against the alqaida involvement in 9/11 is less than the evidence is having in controlled demolishing of WTC. there are so many questions which is not yet confirmed for example: why Jewish workers was absent, how can passengers call from flight using there cell phones in out of network coverage in 2001, one side media told they got IDs of the hijackers, and in other hand they also revieled that due to increase of 1000 degree temperature the steel got melt from top to bottom, reason why complete structure was fell down, just imagine in this temperature they got plastic ID which is safe without any mark of burn..i cannot digest this point,i can go on putting these questions, but no time, in my first attempt i compared US army with TERRORIST, which no one can ignored, the only solution to remove terrorism is dont look over terrorist look WHY A NORMAL PERSON BECAME VIOLENT AND UNWANTEDLY WHY HE IS KILLING TO OTHERS, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE??????????if we think like this then only we will get the solution, if USA Follows TIT for TAT proverb they will never win on this issue actually they are putting oil in a fire..by invading these restless and poor countries..come to west bank and israel issue this is not first time that israel violete international law, it happend so many time, it is an open secrete that israel developing nuclear power as well but iran get sanctions they dont even bother about israel, why because he is allie to america???israel have been killed in gaza carnage thousands of civilians, and there is no dought that he also produce thousands of TERRORISTS from that strike, here is my point gets clear picture how a normal person will become violent and pick weapons….? if i can think this point being a normal person why not those who are sitting on highly designated seats…
