Ahmedabad, Sep 29 (IANS) One person was killed and seven others were seriously injured in a bomb blast at Modasa town of Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district Monday night, police said. Two men came on a motorcycle and threw the bomb at the Suka market in Modasa town, around 80 km from here, at 9.30 p.m, police sources said.

The blast was so severe that it destroyed two motorcycles parked nearby and an electric pole, they said.

The victim has been identified as Jainuddin Ghori.

The police cordonned off the area and a sniffer dog squad was rushed along with the bomb disposal squad.

The blast seemed very similar to the one in Mehrauli in south Delhi Saturday, police sources said. The low-intensity crude bomb blast in Delhi had killed a boy.

District Superintendent of Police R.P. Brahmbhatt was supervising investigations at the spot.

The explosion comes close on the heels of 17 crude bombs being recovered from the Kalupur area of Ahmedabad earlier Monday.
