One killed, 35 missing in Russia artillery depot fire
November 14th, 2009 - 2:47 am ICT by IANSUlyanovsk (Russia), Nov 14 (RIA Novosti) One person was killed and 35 others were missing after a fire broke out at a military ammunition depot here in the Volga region of Russia, officials said Friday.
Russian Federal Security Service said officials were destroying the ammunition when the fire started because “the set cycle was broken”. The incident took place at 4.00 p.m.
Ulyanovsk governor Sergei Morozov said over 3,000 people have been evacuated from the nearby areas after the incident.
