One injured as gunman opens fire at Los Angeles school
May 26th, 2011 - 7:49 am ICT by IANSLos Angeles, May 26 (IANS) One girl was wounded when an unidentified gunman opened fire at a high school in the US metropolis of Los Angeles Wednesday, Xinhua quoted authorities as saying.
The shooting took place near San Pedro High School in the 1000 block of West 15th Street at about 2.45 p.m., police said.
The shot was believed to have been fired from off campus, said Los Angeles Unified School District spokeswoman Susan Cox.
A bullet fired near San Pedro High School ricocheted off a wall and lodged in the leg of a 15-year-old girl, authorities said.
Police reportedly picked up the suspect in the shooting at 1001 W. 15th St. shortly after the incident occurred.
