London, June 6 (ANI): The age of innocence may well be a myth if the results of a new survey are to be gone by, which reveals that one in three British children watch porn on the internet. Moreover, eight out of ten kids in the 14-16 year bracket regularly access pornography on their home computer.

Today’s wily youngsters are well-versed with the internet and manage to dodge parental interception with their savviness, while in other cases the parents themselves have not introduced any controls to regulate what the child has access to, giving the kids a free-hand to open whichever website they please.

Despite the alarmingly high number of porn watching kids, 70 percent of British teenagers claim never to have been intimate with anyone and most kids are accessing these depraved sex-videos even before having their first sexual experience.

According to the News of The World, this sort of unnatural exposure may even cause them to grow up into romantically dysfunctional human beings and might even make them more likely to commit rape, experts warn.

Hundreds of secondary-school kids were quizzed for the study by Psychologies magazine as part of the survey.

Leading sociologist Michael Flood told the magazine: “There is compelling evidence that pornography has negative effects on individuals and communities. Porn shows sex in unrealistic ways and fails to address intimacy, love, connection or romance.

Sex-addiction psychotherapist John Woods warned that watching it is more addictive than drugs or alcohol.

“The pendulum has swung too far. We are allowing abusive sexual imagery to be accessed by children. We need regulation but that needs people to say enough is enough and demand change,” he said.

British parents too are alarmed at the rampancy of the problem.

“We can’t continue to stick our heads in the sand about the potential effects of this,” said Justine Roberts of parents’ support group Mumsnet.

“We are going to produce a generation with a terrifying idea of what sex is about,” she concludes. (ANI)
