oil Chicago, July 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The most damaging oil spill in recent US history continues to cause further damage to life and property. A diver who was involved with efforts to perform maintenance on a client’s oilrig in the Gulf of Mexico has reportedly passed away, as a result of an accident that occurred underwater.

The waste company - Veolia Environmental Services North America failed to name the client that the diver was working for. The company officials said that the diver was located at about 250 feet from the firm’s Normand Clipper vessel and “what might have been an underwater explosion” occurred on Friday, at about 11.30 am CDT.

The rescue team said that the paramedics were not able to help the diver breathe again after, he was rescued by the company’s emergency team. Chevron U.S.A employee Margaret Cooper confirmed that the diver died, whilst working on a rig owned by the company based in Houston.

This is not the first time that a maintenance worker has died while working on the rig. In the past too, another worker had unfortunately died, when he was involved in doing some work on the Houston-based Chevron.
