Ohio boy charged for killing his mother
January 4th, 2011 - 8:24 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattOhio, Jan 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The police in Ohio have charged a 10-year-old boy for killing his mother.
The boy is currently being held by the authorities at a juvenile facility. When he appeared before the Holmes County Juvenile Court, the boy pleaded not guilty to the charge of juvenile delinquency by murder.
The boy allegedly shot and killed his mother Deborah L. McVay using a .22-caliber rifle. When the incident happened on Sunday evening at the house the boy and his mother lived, his 15-year-old elder sister was present and witnessed the incident. She eventually managed to escape to safety. The family had lived in the house for less than a year.
Police say when they got to the scene, they found the mother lying on the floor of her living room face-down.
The police ruled out accident and said that as things stand now, the boy is the only suspect in the case. It does not appear that there are any more people involved in the incident.
It is yet not clear why the boy picked the gun and committed such a crime. The police say as part of their investigations, they will try to determine the motive for the murder.
The body is awaiting autopsy.
