Offutt Air Show to make headlines

August 17th, 2008 - 1:18 am ICT by David M N James -

An air show is on and it will be at Offutt.

The Thunderbirds to be on display at the Offutt Air ShowThe Air Force Week is the key feature in the Offutt Air show this year. The air force show is underway to go along with the big weekend Air Show at Offutt Air Force Base. This will make those interested in this much hyped activity to get a glimpse of the action in the air and on the ground. Most pundits are calling it a very true entertainment chance since it will be covered in three locations across the United States. This will host American Air Force valor and create what seems to be a show case of various aspects of their creativity in flying.

Analysts have put the figure of interested Americans at over hundreds of thousands of people across the American metro. Great American aces will fly over the skies of Offutt and how man and machine do it in war as well smart aerobatics and precision flying. About two hundred thousand people are expected to gather at Offutt to watch the event as the pilots maneuver across the skies. According to Air Force Brig. Gen. Jim Jones “We’re expecting about 175,000 people a day to come here and it’s because it’s a thrilling show we’re going to have the Thunderbirds, we’re going to have A-10 demos, we’re going to have for the first time a AC-17 demonstration,” .

75 planes from the Air Force’s past, present and future will be on display. These range from World War II era aircraft, Korea vintage aircraft and A-26. There is a lot of securing Offutt that is ongoing while free buses will be running from South roads Mall, Bellevue University, both Bellevue East and West high schools and Northrop Grumman between 8:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The gates open at 9 a.m. and the flying starts at 11 a.m. The Offutt air show will become a historical event.
