Octavia Spencer wins best supporting actress Golden Globe
January 16th, 2012 - 10:23 am ICT by IANSLos Angeles, Jan 16 (IANS) Octavia Spencer picked the best supporting actress trophy at the 69th Golden Globes award ceremony here for her role as a big-mouthed maid in “The Help”.
Her character in the movie, which details the African-American maid’s point of view about the white families for which they work and the hardships they go through on a daily basis, was called Minny.
The actress was overwhelmed with the award.
Spencer’s competition in the category included Berenice Bejo (”The Artist”), Jessica Chastain (”The Help”), Janet McTeer (”Albert Nobbs”) and Shailene Woodley (”The Descendants”).
