London, March 30 (IANS) A 43-year-old American man had become so obese that he got stuck in a chair for two years and had to be cut free by rescuers after he became unconscious.

The unnamed man from Bellaire, Ohio, was found sitting in his own faeces and urine and covered in maggots by health officials at his house.

Paramedics were called to the house by his girlfriend after she found him unconscious. She later admitted to the medics she fed him by hand as he had become too big to get up, The Sun reported.

Rescuers had to cut a hole in a wall to lift the massive man through it.

One officer said it was the “worst thing” he had ever responded to, while another said the house and the man were so filthy he had to throw his uniform away.

The house landlady said the man used to be active. She said the man used to hide himself under a blanket whenever she stopped by.
