Barack Obama Washington, Apr.13 (ANI): US President Barack Obama’s sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, has slammed comments made by ‘birthers’, who claim that Obama was not born in Hawaii, saying it is time to put the argument to rest.

Maya, who campaigned alongside Obama when he was running for president in 2008, backed her brother in a television interview and said it was unfortunate that people were raising questions about his birth as the President has already presented documents to prove he was born in Hawaii.

‘I think that it is time for people to put that to bed, to rest completely,’ she said.

Her comments came after speculative Presidential candidate Donald Trump continued to question the President’s birthplace, The Daily Mail reports.

The siblings grew up together despite regular traveling between Hawaii, Obama’s native state, and Indonesia, Maya’s father’s country.
Maya said despite the president being busy, she still stays in touch with him though she feels that he has ‘been loaned out to the world’ as she gets to see less of him, however, admitting that she often called his secretary or the White House usher to stay connected. (ANI)
