Washington, Dec 16 (ANI): Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan recently bagged a sit-down with US President Barack Obama for a special set.

The interview, which saw Obama giving a call to service to the Hispanic community, is expected to air on Thursday at 10:00 p.m., during Univision’s “Nuestra Navidad” special that stresses on the significance of volunteerism and service.

A host of other Hispanic stars, including crooner Thalia and real life heroes like a 90-year-old grandma from the Bronx campaigning for the elderly in her neighbourhood, will also feature in the show.

Estefan was at the White House in October for a celebration of Hispanic music, and in September Obama named her husband, music producer and songwriter Emilio Estefan to a commission that is studying the creation of a National Museum of the American Latino.

Gloria’s hubby Emilio Estefan is producing the show and called it “our best show to date.”

“As in years past, we showcase some of Latin music’s brightest stars singing their chart-topping hits and holiday classics, but what I think truly speaks of the magic of the season are the powerful and heart warming stories we share in this holiday special,” the Politico quoted Emilio as saying in a statement.

He added: “Although we are going through very difficult times on so many levels, this show proves that the power of the human spirit and hope are still very much alive in our great country.”
