Obama puts basketball bets on Pittsburgh Panthers

Washington, Mar. 16 (ANI): US President Barack Obama has announced his NCAA March Madness picks, and made it clear that he is especially keen on the Pittsburgh Panthers.
“I haven’t finished my brackets but I do think that Pitt gets it at least to the Elite 8,” Obama told Pittsburgh TV station KDKA, referring to the Pittsburgh Panthers, a No. 1 seed in the men’s basketball tournament.
“I’m still trying to work through how the brackets are going to play, but they’re a good-looking team,” he added.
It’s a common joke that presidents factor in electoral politics when they fill out their basketball brackets; if so, it should come as no surprise that Pitt sits in a highly coveted swing state, as Obama captured Pennsylvania in 2008.
Later, Obama disclosed on ESPN that he had placed Pitt in his men’s Final Four, along with the tourney’s three other No. 1 seeds: Kansas, Ohio State and defending champion Duke.
Last year, like many others, he incorrectly picked Kansas to win it all; in 2009, he correctly chose North Carolina. (ANI)
