Barack Obama Washington, May 13 (IANS) US President Barack Obama has a “robust agenda” for boosting India-US trade because he believes it creates jobs in America and adds to its overall economic growth, White House says.

Obama believes that “with the right approach, it (trade) creates high-paying, sustainable jobs in the United States and adds to our overall economic growth”, press secretary Jay Carney told reporters Thursday when asked about follow-up of Obama’s November visit to India focused on business.

But “I don’t have anything specifically new for you on US-Indian trade,” he said declining to reveal “the content of the conversation” with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when Obama called him this week to discuss “the successful American action against Osama bin Laden”.

Osama bin Laden was killed May 2 by US commandos in Pakistan’s Abbottabad city.

In response to question about US relations with Pakistan in the aftermath of the raid on Osama’s hideout, Carney restated “the importance of maintaining our cooperative relationship with Pakistan, precisely because it’s in US national security interests”.
