Barack Obama Washington, Apr 1(ANI): United States President Barack Obama’s approval ratings among young American adults have increased, a new poll suggests.

In a national survey of Americans ages 18 to 29 conducted by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics, 55 percent said that they approve of Obama’s job performance, up six percentage points from last October.

Among college students, the president did even better, with a 60 percent approval rating, up nine percentage points.

When asked whether they will vote for Obama in 2012, 33 percent of those surveyed -and 43 percent of college students- said they would.

“As the 2012 presidential primary and caucus season draws closer, young people will again have the opportunity to greatly impact the race for the White House,” Politico quoted the institute’s director, Trey Grayson, as saying in a statement.

“Political campaigns that incorporate an effective youth outreach strategy will have a strong advantage in the 2012 cycle,” he added.

The poll surveyed 3,018 US citizens between February 11 and March 2. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.4 percentage points. (ANI)
