Obama doing everything he can to control Gulf Oil Spill: Former US First Lady Laura Bush
June 5th, 2010 - 3:41 pm ICT by ANIWashington, June 4 (ANI): Former US First Lady expressed her faith in US President Obama’s efforts in battling the Gulf Oil spill saying that she is convinced that he is earnest in his endeavour and comparing it to her husband George Bush’s attempts during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
She noted the extent of the damage and loss of life caused by the leak, but asked people to refrain from finger-pointing, adding that it is not just Obama’s sole responsibility to resolve the problem.
“I think they’re doing everything they can do. Absolutely. Just like we did with [Hurricane] Katrina,” ABC News quoted Bush, 63, as having told “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts in an interview taped Wednesday that aired today.
“You know, it’s not one person’s responsibility. The president can’t do every single thing there is to do,” she said.
“This obviously was a terrible, tragic accident. Eleven people died … I don’t think it serves to try to point fingers and make it be somebody’s fault,” she said of the disaster, now the worst oil spill in United States history.
“I think what we should do is all come together and do every single thing we can to make sure … the well is capped,” she added. (ANI)
