Now, Cat Deeley claims her mobile phone was hacked
April 30th, 2011 - 5:50 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 30 (ANI): The television presenter Cat Deeley, who covered the Royal wedding for US broadcaster CNN, believes that her mobile phone was hacked by tabloid journalists.
Deeley said she would not pursue legal action, but was convinced her voicemails had been accessed.
When asked whether she suspected that her mobile had been hacked, she said “yes”.
“I think probably, at some point, yes,” the Telegraph quoted her as telling the Guardian.
Deeley said that she had no evidence and that the information allegedly hacked from her telephone was not used directly in the press.
However, journalists would try and extract information from her agent or publicist after listening to the calls.
“Certain conversations I’ve had have been repeated back to me, almost word for word,” she said.
“It wouldn’t surprise me,” she added.
Deeley said that journalists would approach her with “almost verbatim” quotes from her voicemail.
“There were only ever five people who would know that information and I just know there is no way any of them would have said anything,” she added. (ANI)
