Noted Comedian Charlie Callas Dies At 83

Las Vegas, Jan 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Renowned comedy artist Charlie Callas, who was known to leave his fans bursting with laughter with his trademark zany faces and antics, breathed his last this week. The high-acclaimed comedian, who made a mark for himself in movies, television and casino stages alike, passed away on Thursday under hospice care. The news of Charlie Callas’ death has been validated by his two sons, Mark Callas and Larry Callas who divulged to the media that few days ago, the comedy artist was placed under hospice care, where he died on Thursday. Charlie Callas was 83 years of age at the time of his unfortunate demise.
The fact that Charlie Callas is no more has also been confirmed by Michael Murphy, who is the coroner in the Nevada based Clark County. Over the years, the noted comedy artist with his signature sense of humor and hilarious antics, made himself a regular on a variety of television shows which included “The ABC Comedy Hour,” “The Joey Bishop Show,” “The Andy Williams Show,” “The Flip Wilson Show,” to name a few. Charlie Callas was also associated with Johnny Carson’s ‘Tonight Show’ for years but later he was banned from the show following a 1982 incident in which he shoved the host off his chair during an act.
While talking about his father, Mark Callas went on to say, “Everybody that met him, he left them with a smile.” The famed comedian’s son also revealed that his father knew all the members of the group Rat Pack, which included Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop.
