north korea missile launchBuilding up more anxiety for the United States, North Korea test-fired three short ranged missiles this Thursday. The test-fire has reportedly ratcheted up tensions in the region which is already on the rise after its atomic test and U.S. sanctions against it.

Two missiles were fired at around 8 a.m. local time and the third was fired sometime later in the morning. The missile firings were quite obvious and anticipated after North Korea called for a no-sail zone in waters off its east coast till July 10 for military drills. The test-firing occurred amidst the strenuous relationship between North Korea and U.S. North Korea had previously performed a series of nuclear tests in the month of May.

Following the ongoing crisis, the UN has adopted a new sanction regime against North Korea, thus freezing the country’s financial dealings with the outside world. According to sources, North Korea also has threatened to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile. Local media stated that North Korea is likely to test-fire some more short-mid ranged missiles from its east-coast to mark a protest against the U.S. sanctions.

The U.S. military officials, who have been preparing for testing of long ranged missiles said that the clash between the two nations are most unlikely as it would be a waste of time and money. The officials also stated that the military preparations for every possible actions are the most advanced yet. Anticipating a possible missile launch towards Hawaii, Defense Department officials deployed a huge new sea based radar system.

Earlier, in a televised interview the U.S. President Barrack Obama had assured the Americans that the U.S. is fully prepared for North Korea’s missile launch towards U.S. territory.
