February 2nd, 2012 - 6:01 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Moscow, Feb 2 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russia has no plans to export the S-400 Triumf air-defence system before 2015, a state-controlled arms exporter said Thursday.
“Until 2015 all the S-400s will be manufactured for Russian needs only,” Rosoboronexport head Anatoly Isaikin said.
The S-400 (SA-21 Growler) air defence system is expected to form the cornerstone of Russia’s theater air and missile defences by 2020.
The S-400 can engage targets at a range of up to 400 km and an altitude of 40,000-50,000 metres. The system uses an array of assets optimized for engaging ballistic and cruise missiles.
