No decision yet on when to hold elections: Tariq Azeem

November 14th, 2007 - 8:35 am ICT by admin
Azeem was quoted by The News as saying that the country was presently under emergency rule, and therefore, the question of holding elections did not arise.

He said the government would possibly wish to remain in power till the time given in the Constitution, which says that the elections should be held in the country within 60 days after the completion of assemblies tenure and their dissolution.

Federal State Minister dismissed this statement of the Attorney General Malik Qayyum saying that the assemblies would be dissolved on November 15 and the general elections in the country would be held before Muharram in January. (ANI)
