No bluffing: Gunmen steal jackpot at German tourney
March 6th, 2010 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSBerlin, March 6 (DPA) Masked gunmen burst into a five-star Berlin hotel Saturday and made off with the proceeds of Germany’s biggest poker tournament that was taking place there, police said.
Up to six gunmen carried out the raid on the Hyatt Hotel in the capital’s Potsdamer Platz district, police said.
The newspaper BZ said on its website that eight people were injured, most of them security personnel.
The tournament offered prize money of 1 million euros (1.35 million dollars). Former tennis star Boris Becker was among those taking part, but was eliminated before the robbery took place.
