Islamabad, July 11 (IANS) At least nine suspected militants were killed in a drone strike Monday evening in Pakistan’s northwest tribal region, a media report said.
Drones fired four missiles around 8.40 p.m. at a vehicle suspected to be carrying militants in Miranshah area of North Waziristan close to the Afghanistan border, Xinhua reported citing Urdu TV channel Dunya.
Monday’s strike was the 41st of its kind in Pakistan this year. A total of 358 people have reportedly been killed in such strikes in 2011.
Most of the people killed in drone strikes are believed to be militants from Taliban or Al Qaeda. Innocent civilians have also been killed in such attacks, which has led to a strong anti-US sentiment among Pakistani people.
