Nine killed in Iraq insurgent attacks
November 20th, 2011 - 6:40 am ICT by IANSBaghdad, Nov 20 (IANS) At least six police personnel and three insurgents were killed Saturday in separate insurgent attacks in Iraq’s western Anbar province, Xinhua reported.
Five policemen and three insurgents were killed while four policemen were injured in a clash at a police checkpoint in the city centre of Ramadi, the provincial capital of Anbar, some 100 km west of Baghdad, said a police official, on condition of anonymity.
In another incident, which occurred on the same day in Ramadi, at least one policeman was killed and three others were wounded when gunmen attacked a police station, the officer added.
Security forces cordoned off the attacked areas and launched a search for the gunmen.
