Nine killed, 123 injured in suicide attacks in Iraq (Second Lead)
May 14th, 2010 - 11:57 pm ICT by IANSBaghdad, May 14 (DPA) At least nine people were killed and 123 injured in two suicide attacks inside a football stadium, in the northern province of Nineveh Friday, a local police source told DPA.
A driver stormed into the stadium, in the northern town of Tel Afar, with a small truck and detonated it targeting the spectators in the stadium.
Shortly after that, a suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt among the people who were trying to help the injured, the source added.
Earlier Friday, 18 people were injured after an explosive device went off after Friday prayers in Hilla, a police source said.
The bomb was planted beside the Shiite Imam al-Kadhim mosque in the city, 100 km south of Baghdad.
