Nikkei down five percent on concerns over global economy

- Tokyo, Dec 2 (Xinhua) Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower Tuesday morning with the key Nikkei index sinking 5.16 percent and falling below the 8,000 mark due to growing market concerns over the global economic outlook.The benchmark Nikkei 225 index shed 432.94 points to 7,964.28 in the first 16 minutes of trading.
The Topix index on the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 35.72 points, or 4.32 percent, to 791.75.
