New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Declares “Weather Emergency”

Jan 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) As the New York City officials brace themselves for the sequel of post Christmas blizzard, the Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already announced a state of weather emergency to ensure the safety of the citizens. During Christmas holidays the Mayor did not take any necessary step in the beginning and hence he was subjected to several criticisms. This time, it seems, he is not ready to take any chances. On the other hand, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s spokesperson Ron Marsico has already said that most of the flights of the city would remain canceled owing to the inclement weather condition.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already taken all the necessary precaution before the blizzard so that the ruthless storm does not disrupt the normal life like before. The local media outlets reported that the nearly 200 snow removal equipments are brought to the city so that the major intersections of the city are cleared out as early as possible. The Mayor has also said that the officials of the city would also discuss whether they would declare snow emergency in the city. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has also asked people to if they can and avoid driving.
Delta Air Lines has already canceled about 800 flights for Wednesday and on Tuesday, Delta Connection flights were also canceled. Christopher White, the representative of AirTran Airways said that it would take several days for the condition to become normal. Mayor Michael Bloomberg seemed geared up to face the blizzard when he said that the the Government would leave no stones unturned to tackle the situation. He also added that that the Emergency Management, Police, Fire Department, Transportation Commissioners and Sanitation officials would take all the necessary steps to ensure safety of people.
