New Mexico boy, 9, to be world’s youngest pilot to fly hot air ballooon solo
April 17th, 2011 - 12:59 pm ICT by ANIWellington, April 17 (ANI): A 9-year-old boy from New Mexico is preparing to become the world’s youngest trained pilot to fly solo in an ultra-light hot air balloon.
Bobby Bradley will be making his record on the sport when he lifts off from a desolate patch of New Mexico desert in June 2011.
He has been training for about five years and learned from some of the most experienced and decorated pilots in the sport of ballooning.
Asked if he is excited, the boy said, “definitely” and continued “not at all” worried.
“I’ve been flying since I was 4, so I’ve had a lot of time to train and I’ve always wanted to solo,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Bradley as telling a news agency.
Bobby is the son of well-known balloonists Troy and Tami Bradley of Albuquerque. (ANI)
