New Jersey woman’s year-long online quest to find perfect mate fails
January 4th, 2010 - 6:41 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )New York, Jan 4 (ANI): Neenah Pickett from New Jersey spent a year looking for a hubby and chronicled the quest on her website 52weeks2findhim.com.
But Pickett, 43, is still single and has now made up her mind to delete her online matchmaking accounts.
“The goal was always to find my husband, to find someone that I could say, ‘Yes, I want to spend the rest of my life with this guy,’…I was really hoping to find my husband, so this is disappointing. I can’t spin it any other way - but I still very much believe in the journey of love,” the New York Daily News quoted her, as saying.
Pickett, a media consultant, had started on her mission in the beginning of 2009 and gave herself a year to find her other half.
The hubby-hunt made her an avid user of social networking and took her to almost 30-40 coffee dates and dinners.
However, things never went beyond a third date.
She said: “I’ve had more dates this year than I’ve had in my entire life combined…. I realize now that it does help to be proactive, but you can’t ever let it steal your joy or steal your peace.”
And now Pickett has decided not to date for the next 52 weeks, and has sworn off “actively pursuing” men.
But she may say yes if a handsome guy proposes to her.
Pickett said: “I don’t feel that I should put finding love aside. I feel I should still be hopeful of finding it…. If I end up going back out there in 2011, I think I’ll be wiser for taking that time off.”
Her story made her known to women across the world and she received support from people in Japan and NIgeria.
Pickett found some nice men as well as very boring ones, and feels her journey was worth it.
She added: “This has been one of the best years I’ve ever had…. I’ve definitely made some mistakes, but I definitely would have taken this journey again if I had to rewind and start over.” (ANI)
