New Birth Missionary Baptist Church’s Pastor Bishop Eddie Long Defends Himself

Sep 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bishop Eddie Lee Long, the senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church finally spoke and defended himself amidst thousands on spectators yesterday. The Bishop was accused of sexually abusing and luring four men early last week as they filed a legal lawsuit against him in the DeKalb County Court. The attorney of the pastor, Craig Gillen previously read a statement by the Bishop where it was maintained that he categorically denied all the allegations and he would address the crowd on Sunday and say that all the allegations were false. Bishop Eddie Long spoke in front of 25,000 members yesterday morning at 8 a.m and 11 a.m and said that he would fight against all false charges.
Bishop Eddie Long defended himself to the press and the congregation saying that he admits that he is not a perfect man but he is not the person that is being “portrayed” on the television. The Bishop also added that he has been accused for false reasons and he feels that he is under “attack”. However, he also promised that he is going to fight against all the charges. The pastor brought in a biblical reference and said that he feels himself like “David against Goliath”.
Recently a media outlet reported that Bishop Eddie Lee Long is named as the defendant in the lawsuit, the authorities said that they would not investigate the matter as all four men were above the Georgia’s age of consent when their relationships began. Earlier last week, two men filed a lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long and in the lawsuit it was maintained that the Bishop had taken advantage of his position and lured these men to get into a sexual relationship with him. However, two other men filed the same lawsuit against him where they accused him of the same reason.
