Nevada Secretary of State congratulates religious statesman Zed for Census effort
June 7th, 2010 - 5:08 pm ICT by ANINevada (US), June 7 (ANI): Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller has congratulated and thanked religious statesman Rajan Zed for his “work on a successful U.S. Census effort here in Nevada”.
In a letter to Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, Miller wrote: “You can take a measure of pride in knowing that your efforts helped create a better Nevada. On behalf of all my fellow Nevadans, I extend sincere gratitude for your work.”
Miller further said: “You clearly understood the significance of the Census results, and were able to communicate that significance to your fellow Nevadans.”
Rajan Zed was a member of the Complete Count Committee (CCC) to help guide Washoe County’s outreach and education activities regarding the 2010 Census, representing clergy of the area.
Complete Count Committees (CCCs) are established to motivate communities to respond to census and often include a cross section of community representatives - including government agencies, education, business, faith-based organizations and the media. The 2010 Census is a count of everyone living in the United States. The first Census was conducted in 1790 and has been carried out every 10 years since then.
Zed is also on the Board of Directors of Nevada World Trade Council and Northern Nevada International Center, and Director Interfaith Relations of Nevada Clergy Association. He is one of the panelists for “On Faith”, a prestigious interactive conversation on religion produced jointly by Newsweek and WashingtonPost.com, and has been bestowed with “World Interfaith Leader Award”.
