Kathmandu, Apr 26 (ANI): The seven-story palace museum in Nepal’s Nuwakot district has been declared open for general public.

Education Minister Gangalal Tuladhar inaugurated the museum showcasing historical details and pictures related to the life and works of King Prithvi Narayan Shah and archeologically important statues, dossiers and collections.

A statue, reportedly carved out when Prithvi Narayan Shah was alive, was brought here from Kathmandu last year for museum purpose.

The idol depicting Prithvi Narayan Shah and his two queens, is the central attraction of museum, the Xinhua quoted Chairperson of Nuwakot Heritage Protection Forum, Shyam Sundar Shrestha, as saying.

The palace, which was constructed by Prithvi Narayan Shah as a citadel some 250 years ago, was not available for public since the state of emergency during armed conflict in Nepal.

Public entrance was prohibited though the palace was made open in 2008 after the reinstatement of democracy in Nepal. (ANI)
